POQ works directly with the Quakertown Community School District Guidance Counselors to support students and their desire to participate in an after school recreational activity of their choosing. Guidance Counselors identify at need children, assist students and their families with the application process and forward all necessary information to POQ. POQ Case Managers then work closely with the student, their families and local facilities to enroll the student in their activity and monitor their participation.
"My husband took him and he said that my son LOVED IT... My husband said hes never seen him so focused on something... my son wouldn't take his eyes off the instructor while he was jamming on the guitar." - POQ Parent
Community
One of the most important, fulfilling parts of a healthy childhood is the time spent engaged in an organized activity. Whether it is sports, art, dance, music, horseback riding or any interest, the benefits to a child are physical, emotional, and social. Children thrive from a healthy lifestyle, high self-esteem and good friendships.
In an effort to give children in need these life changing opportunities, we have formed a non-profit organization called Pride of Quakertown. Our goal is to build a strong community spirit in Quakertown through investment in our youth. It is our belief that Quakertown is a vibrant, wonderful area in which to live and raise a family. Children who are raised with a strong sense of community pride become adults ready to continue the traditions they experienced as youth. We can build a strong, united Quakertown community by investing time, money, and energy in our children.
